Chris Atherton TEP

Chris Atherton is the Principal of the firm and has been practicing as a Solicitor for over 40 years. He is admitted to both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

Chris was as a General Practitioner until 2004 when he commenced practicing exclusively in all areas of Succession Law, complex Estate Planning, Will making, Estate Administration and Estate Litigation.

Chris was Special Counsel with Walsh Halligan Douglas in the Brisbane CBD . From 2009 to 2014 he was a Consultant with Littles Lawyers, Indooroopilly, in charge of that firm's Wills and Estates Practice.

Chris is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Louise Atherton ADFS(FP) TEP

Louise is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.

She initially worked in her own practice before joining Atherton Lawyers.

Louise has subsequently obtained Financial Planning qualifications and has consulted in the Financial Planning industry, developing structured superannuation retirement plans and working closely with Centrelink.

Louise was a Consultant with De Groots Wills and Estates Lawyers and then Special Counsel with Cooper Grace Ward in the Brisbane CBD where she practiced solely as a specialist in Trust and Succession Law

Louise is also a member of the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the International Succession and Trust Organisation.

Candace Howard

Candice is the firms Personal Assistant and has a wealth of experience in all areas of Wills and Estate administration, and litigation - assisting Chris for over 10 years.

Candice is the first point of contact with clients where she assists the queries and concerns they may have, as well as keeping clientele up to date on current matters. Candice is also responsible for all safe custody enquiries.

Paul Williamson

Paul is the Specialist Titles Office Consultant to Atherton Lawyers. Previously, he was a senior Titles Officer with the Department of Natural Resources and Mines before joining Atherton Lawyers.

Paul has presented at the Queensland Law Society in relation to the Titles Office Practice. We are very fortunate to have him on our team.

Alex Hams

Alex is the Probate Consultant to Atherton Lawyers.

He was formally the Queensland Probate Registrar for the Supreme Court from 2000 to 2008. Over the years Alex acted as Deputy Registrar Sheriff and Marshall of both the Queensland District and Supreme Courts. He was awarded an Australia Day Medal in 2005 for his contribution to this role.

Alex has advised lawyers in Queensland and New South Wales in relation to the correct course of applications for representation in succession law including applications for probate for reconstruction, amendment and re writing of Wills and on the Will makers testamentary intentions for many years.

Alex also presents papers on probate and succession law to legal practitioners.
