History

Atherton Lawyers was established by Chris Atherton in 1979 in Ashgrove and later in Milton as a practice undertaking general legal work with an emphasis on Family Law, Property Law, Commercial Law, Franchising and Wills and Estates.

Louise Atherton, also a General Practitioner, joined the firm and subsequently practiced solely in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills and Estates, Superannuation and Estate Taxation. Louise also has Financial Planning qualifications.

In 2013 Atherton Lawyers incorporated the former Indooroopilly firm of Woodgate Hughes Solicitors and now holds safe custody documentation on behalf of its former clients.

Culture

Working from a home office in St Lucia, the firm is able operate cost effectively with significant benefits which are passed on to our clients. The office atmosphere is informal and friendly with an emphasis placed on personal service. We frequently visit our clients at their homes in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Chris Atherton has worked for the Caxton Legal Service on a pro-bono basis.

We provide tailored succession advice to clients considering their unique interpersonal family relationships and financial needs at an affordable cost.

We support the less fortunate in the community with special interests assisting disability pensioners and their families provide for their future accommodation and health needs.
